The United States dropped significantly in the ranking of the happiest countries
The World Happiness Report, published Wednesday, ranked the 156 countries by the happiness levels of their inhabitants based on factors such as life expectancy, social support and corruption. This year for the first time included in the report the opinion of immigrants who were evaluated in 117 countries.
The Nordic countries dominated this report, which was first published in 2012. Finland topped the list of the happiest countries to live this year. After Finland, the neighboring country, Norway, took second place.
The top ten included: Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia.
The United States moved down to 18 in last year from 14.
