Russian-American lobbyist confirmed participation in meeting with Trump's son

Rinat Akhmetshin, a Russian-American lobbyist who in the past was an officer of the Soviet counterintelligence, and now lives in the United States, confirmed to the agency Associated Press the fact of his participation in the meeting of the son of US President Donald Trump with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.

“I didn’t think it was that important, to be honest,” Akhmetshin said, noting that he expected “a more serious discussion” from the meeting.

Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, answering journalists' questions, assured that there is no information in the Kremlin about a certain agent of the special services of the USSR Rinat Akhmetshin.

Recall that on July 10 it became known that Donald Trump’s son held a meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in June 2016. According to the publication The New York Times, Trump’s presidential campaign manager Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner, the billionaire’s son-in-law, also took part in the meeting.

The newspaper claims that Veselnitskaya has "ties with the Kremlin." Meetings were reportedly organized by producer Rob Goldstone at the request of singer Emin Agalarov, the son of the president and owner of the Crocus band Aras Agalarov.

Trump Jr. published a correspondence with Goldstone, in which he reported that Agalarov allegedly has some dirt on Hillary Clintonreceived from the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office. A meeting with Trump Jr., according to the lawyer, was organized to discuss the "Magnitsky law", in the campaign for the cancellation of which she participates. The connection with the Russian special services Veselnitskaya categorically denies.

Earlier it was reported that US intelligence agencies brought evidence of Russia's interference in the US presidential election in the 2016 year, an investigation is underway.
