US intelligence: Russia's intervention in elections took place on Putin’s personal order
Russian President Vladimir Putin personally ordered the intervention in the US presidential election.
This is stated in report American Intelligence, published on January 6.
It says that Russia has long been trying to undermine the liberal democratic order in the world, of which the United States is the flagship, and its interference in the US presidential election in 2016 is just one of a number of operations that was carried out at a qualitatively new level compared to previous ones.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2016 gave instructions to influence the presidential elections in the United States. Russia's goal was to undermine public confidence in the US democratic process, smear Secretary Clinton and harm her campaign and eventual presidency. "We also state that Putin and the Russian government have a clear preference for President-elect Donald Trump," the report said.
The Central Intelligence Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are confident that Putin and the Russian government intervened in the electoral process in order to ensure that Donald Trump was elected president.
The report says that Russia actively used the Internet for this purpose. Russian government agencies, state media, third-party intermediaries, and paid “trolls” on social networks were involved.
In addition, a number of hacker attacks were carried out, which led to a leak of information in the media and WikiLeaks.
“We declare that Moscow will apply the lessons learned from this Putin-ordered campaign against the US presidential election to future interventions around the world, including against US allies and their electoral processes,” the report says.
Recall, official representatives of the US intelligence community have previously stated that Russian hackers were behind cyber attacks against the country's electoral systems and helped Donald Trump win the election. Barack Obama Administration imposed sanctions against Russia because of cyber attacks. The Kremlin denies all charges. Trump also considers them contrived.
