Russian oligarch is ready to talk about the influence of Moscow on the elections in the United States

The Russian billionaire, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Basic Element group of companies, Oleg Deripaska, offered to testify in the US Congress committees about Russia's interference in the presidential election of 2016, if he was granted immunity.

This is reported by the publication The New York Times, with reference to three sources in Congress who wished to remain anonymous.

The businessman was willing to cooperate with the committees of the House of Representatives and the Senate, if he is guaranteed complete immunity from prosecution. However, in the congress, Deripaska’s proposal was rejected, and this decision was made because of fears that granting immunity from persecution to anyone would hamper the work of federal investigators.

However,There is no information that Deripaska is involved in the FBI investigation into Russian interference in the US 2016 elections of the year.

In the middle of 2000, former head of the election headquarters of Donald Trump, Paul Manafort, allegedly worked for businessman Oleg Deripaska in order to promote Russian interests in the post-Soviet space. According to unnamed knowledgeable sources and business documentation that came to the hands of journalists, Manafort and Deripaska signed an 10 millionth contract that came into effect in 2006 and maintained business connections at least until 2009. These documents contain Manafort’s strategic plans and accounts of multi-million dollar cash transfers.

Manafort allegedly introduced Deripaska in 2005 action plan on the impact on politics and news coverage, from which "the Putin government would greatly benefit." Deripaska denies this fact and filed a defamation lawsuit against AP, which first published this information.

Recall, the American intelligence services have accused Russia of hacking into computers of the National Committee of the US Democratic Party, as well as presidential election interference in USA. The FBI and Congress are investigating this issue.

Oleg Deripaska takes the 23 position in the Russian rating Forbes, his fortune is estimated at $ 5,3 billion.
