A rare sight: a super blue moon will rise in the sky over the USA
On Wednesday, August 30, a particularly rare celestial event will occur—a super blue moon will rise. Not only will it change color, but it will also appear significantly larger than usual. In general, it will seem that it has become larger, because the satellite will be closest to our planet. When to expect this unusual sight, the publication said USA Today.
However, the word "blue" has nothing to do with the appearance of the moon. It simply means that it is now the second full moon of the month.
These two factors rarely happen at the same time. NASA claims that this happens about every 10 years, when the second full moon in a month approaches the Earth in its orbit.
The agency says the next super blue moon won't appear until 14 years from now, in January and March 2037.

When will the super blue moon
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the super blue moon will be visible on Wednesday, August 30. At 21:36 pm ET, it will reach its peak.
What is a blue moon
According to NASA, a blue moon is when a full moon occurs twice in the same month.
The average lunar cycle, 29,5 days, is slightly shorter than the average length of a calendar month. Every two to three years there is a full moon in the first few days of a given month, then a second one before the start of the next month.
The first full moon in August, which was also a supermoon, fell on the first day of the month.
There is an alternative definition of a blue moon - when there are four full moons in one season, the third is considered a blue moon.
