An app has appeared that will help you find cheap gas in your area

Americans are grappling with high prices at gas stations as the cost of gasoline has skyrocketed to an average of $3,88 per gallon (3,7L), although it exceeds $6 in some states. Luckily, there is an app that will show you gas stations with cheap gas. Writes about it Daily Mail.

The Waze navigation tool is crowdsourced, allowing the public to share the cost of gasoline on routes.

Users select the Where to option, and a gas station icon appears showing nearby stations and how much each one charges per gallon.

Waze's Gas Station feature must first be enabled in Settings so users can select their preferred gas type, brand, and distance from their current location.

The app then shows nearby gas stations, distance, address, price, and when the price per gallon was last updated.

The rise in gasoline prices is partly due to reduced oil supplies from Russia and Saudi Arabia, as well as sweltering weather in the US, which has hurt the productivity of many refineries.

As usual, California had the highest prices in the country, averaging $5,17, with outlying Mono County reaching $6.

In Texas, the average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3,46, up from about $3 just a month ago. Mississippi and Louisiana were the cheapest - $3,32 and $3,42, respectively.

Over the past month, the average cost of fuel in the country has increased by 28 cents, and since July 4 - by about 32 cents.

But prices are so far well below the peak average of $5 in June 2022, about four months after Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Last summer at this time, the national average was $4,28 a gallon.

“We appear to be at a fork in the road when it comes to whether gasoline prices will go up or down,” said American Automobile Association (AAA) spokesman Andrew Gross. “The summer heat that kept people indoors and suppressed refinery production has eased for now, so we need to look at oil prices to determine whether the recent price rise is ending.”

According to a Business Insider expert, the continued increase in fuel prices is likely to lead to higher inflation in August.

An AAA spokesman noted last month that "the main culprit is the high price of oil."

This gasoline price is linked to oil prices approaching $90 per barrel, and some analysts predict that it could exceed this level.

In February, Goldman Sachs predicted that oil could hit $100 a barrel this year due to production cuts by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
