With bombs from Miami: two more suspicious parcels arrived

Law enforcement authorities discovered two more suspicious packages on Friday morning, which were addressed to a Democratic senator and the former head of US National Intelligence, writes “Voice of America«.

The eleventh package was found in the mail sorting center in the suburb of Miami. She was addressed to New Jersey Democratic Senator Corey Booker. The FBI confirmed this information on its Twitter account.

The twelfth package was for James Clapper, who led the National Intelligence from 2010 to 2017 years. A parcel with an explosive device addressed to Clapper was sent to CNN's New York office, but she was never delivered to her destination. According to the channel, the package was intercepted at a post office in New York.

In the city of Opa-Loka, which is not far from Miami, a team of explosives with service dogs continue to search the premises of the postal sorting center. According to Homeland Security Minister Kirsten Nielsen, Florida was the point of departure for at least some of the packages found.

“Some of these packages went through the mail. They were expelled, some of them, from Florida, ”Nielsen told Fox News 25 in an October interview. She expressed confidence that the sender (or group of senders) of the parcels will soon be brought to justice.

As of Friday, 12 of such parcels was withdrawn. In addition to James Clapper and Corey Booker, explosive devices were sent Biden and De Niro, two devices in separate parcels were sent to Congresswoman Maxine Waters in California; similar packages were also addressed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, former Attorney General Eric Holder, former CIA director John Brennan (the package was sent to CNN news agency in New York) and billionaire George Soros.

None of the devices exploded, and no one was hurt. Authorities are studying explosives and warned that there may be more, encouraging people to be careful with the mail.

According to sources, the explosive devices were made of PVC tubes and contained a timer (digital alarm clock) connected to a detonator. X-rays show that PVC pipes are likely to contain debris, which can increase injuries in an explosion.

Several technicians stated that the devices contain all the components necessary for a successful explosion, although other experts claim that they may not all explode.

And this may have been part of the intruder’s plan.

“There is a theory that the bombs were not intended to explode, but were intended to intimidate,” said New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

According to the police, explosive devices have several common features, which allows the investigation to assume that all the packages are interconnected.
