Media: North Korean leader 'turned into a vegetable' after surgery
The doctor who performed heart surgery on North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was very nervous, his hands were shaking, which is why the operation lasted eight minutes instead of one, according to an article in the Japanese weekly Shukan Gendai, writes RIA News".
Earlier, the South Korean publication Daily NK reported citing its source in North Korea that Kim Jong-un is undergoing treatment after surgery related to the cardiovascular system.
The author of the material in Shukan Gendai, Daisuke Kondo, refers to details of the North Korean leader’s heart attack, which were revealed to him by a source in Chinese medical circles.
“DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un, while inspecting the region, suddenly grabbed his heart and fell. The accompanying team of doctors, hastily performing cardiac massage, took him to the nearest emergency room,” Kondo quotes the source as saying.
At the same time, according to the interlocutor of the journalist, the North Korean side urgently asked China to send a group of doctors from Beijing.

According to this source, a group of about 50 people with equipment was sent by special board to Pyongyang.
“However, a group of North Korean doctors, believing that if they wait for Chinese doctors, the patient will not survive, decided to carry out an urgent operation to install a stent in the heart,” noted the source of the Japanese publication.
According to the publication, stenting surgery is not too complicated and “the operation itself, installing a stent in the most important blood vessel, takes approximately one minute.”
“However, the surgeon who performed the operation was very nervous, his hands were shaking. He had no experience of performing operations on patients as obese as Kim Jong-un. Therefore, it took eight minutes to install the stent,” the magazine quoted a Chinese source as saying.
According to him, Kim Jong-un "sank into a vegetative state." At the same time, a group of Chinese doctors arrived and examined the North Korean leader, but were unable to help.
The Ronhap Agency, citing sources in the South Korean government, reported that the news that the head of the DPRK had serious health problems was untrue. Experts interviewed by reporters do not consider the information about Kim Jong-un's health condition reliable, and rumors of his death that later spread on the Internet are called unlikely.
