Border guards rescue more 50 migrants abandoned by smugglers in the Arizona desert
Last week, border patrol agents rescued 57 illegal migrants who traveled from Central America to the United States. Illegal migrants allegedly left by smugglers in the middle of the desert in Arizona, writes Fox News.
According to the source, a group of 57 people illegally crossed the border and needed help. Border guards from the Tucson sector, which is on the border of the United States and Mexico, responded to their distress call.
Border guards discovered in an area where the heat reaches 108 degrees, 21 adults and 36 minors, 17 of whom were unaccompanied. Among the migrants found was a pregnant woman with a child.
Many migrants had signs of dehydration, but only one person needed serious medical care. All illegal migrants received the necessary water and food, and were taken to the Ajo station. A pregnant woman was sent to the hospital for further treatment.
Border Service officials issued a warning that there was extreme heat in the Arizona desert in the summer, and this area is particularly dangerous in this period. Anyone in need of emergency assistance can call 911 or activate a rescue beacon at 30 feet.
