Why Miami is the best place to immigrate

I live abroad most of the time and would like to state that more and more of my friends are either moving to other countries or want to do so; most of the parents of my friends and clients have sent their children to study abroad or are planning to do so; some view the move as an “alternate airfield”; but the absolute majority lives in their own country and only thinks or talks about moving or does not think about it at all.

Yesterday I talked with two interesting people on the topic of finding a comfortable place to live in retirement or as a rentier. One of them is just thinking about it, and the second is actively searching and is “trying on” countries for life right now. I still need to do a lot of work before the rentier, but the list of countries and the approach to the search are the same.

What should be the country to which you can move

So, my criteria from general to specific:

1. Security.

2. Similar culture.

3. Convenience for travel.

4. Opportunities for business. I invest in this understanding a large market and the ability to scale on it, simple and understandable conditions for doing business.

5. Climate and language. The climate should be warm, near the sea, and the language is English or Russian.

6. Big metropolis with a fast pace of life.

It turns out that there are not so many places on the map ...

Almost all developed countries are safe, these are EU countries, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, some Asian countries (Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Japan), some Caribbean countries. But according to the language and cultural criteria, Asian and various island countries fall off, Canada is in a minus climate, Australia and New Zealand are far away in the time zone from the whole world.

Europe or USA

In the end, the choice came down to Europe and the States. There are few real megacities in Europe - these are London, Vienna, Amster, and several other capitals and big cities. But London is not on the sea that we would like (it’s actually on the river and it’s cold there), Vienna speaks German, Barça speaks Spanish, and there is no such drive there as in New York or Los Angeles.

Large German cities seem to me uninteresting and without zest (now I’m talking about Frankfurt, specifically), well, the language there is not suitable, in Switzerland it’s cool, lakes will replace the sea, but again the language is expensive, Italy and Spain are super, you can even learn the language , but only for a quiet life or travel, there is not enough drive for life.

Greece is a difficult language, Portugal speaks English, but in the winter it dies out completely and fewer people live there than in Moscow. And in general, in Europe, according to my observations, there is a generally calm rhythm - from 9 to 5 from Monday to Friday, in the south there are also siestas and pronounced seasonality. I mean drive from a business point of view.

Now I like big cities with skyscrapers and crowds of people, busy life, taxis, lights and major airports, from where you can fly direct and cheap. Traffic jams and noise do not bother me. This is quite general if ...

This is how I came to the USA, although I analyzed it after moving. 6 years ago, when I was here for the first time, I had the imprudence to say that the USA is the only country where I would like to stay. And so it happened, be careful, the Universe hears everything.

Safety, climate, skyscrapers, drive, a huge market and the English language - everything you need is there. I liked California and Miami the most. New York and Chicago are also cool cities, but not in winter.

It is here that an even greater desire to make money appears, and you quickly get used to new numbers:

• one grocery trip - 150-200 dollars,
• for organic products 300-400 dollars,
• a visit to the doctor is 500-1000 dollars,
• good house in Miami - from $500,
• good apartments start with 250 000 dollars,
• on bays or closer to the ocean from 1,5-2 million,
• apartment rental - from 1500 dollars,
• a nice house can be rented from 3500 dollars,
• normal health insurance - from $500 per month per person,
• dinner for two in a good place - from 100 dollars minimum, if without different groupons.

The plank rises, and involuntarily you begin to think in the direction of only those ideas that can lead to the right income, while less promising ones are eliminated. In Europe, not so, there is calmer, few people are in a hurry, and you yourself become calmer from it.

Everything is very measured. This is good in its own way, but not for me, or rather, not now.

Why Miami, not California

Because the time zone in Miami is the most suitable for working with CIS countries, California is 4 hours further and 3 times more expensive. Miami is much more comfortable for the same money, but I also really like California. There are mountains, and an ocean, and snow, and megacities, and villages with vineyards, in general - a full-fledged country, and not a state, with an area like Sweden and a population like Poland.

California's GDP is in the top ten in the world, that is, France, Italy... California...India, etc. About 100 billionaires live here, and more than 660 millionaires (source - Wiki for 000, maybe more now) , and in general, 2010% of the world's dollar millionaires live in the United States.

The percentage of millionaires in relation to the adult population is 5,5%, in Russia - up to 0,1%. The environment and general well-being are very important, and the information background depends on it.

At one of the trainings, I remember a good thesis - “define your closest circle of friends of 5 people, you are the average between them.”

The USA is also convenient for travel - it is almost an entire continent - plus Hawaii, the Caribbean and South America are very close, snow in Aspen and Alaska, desert in Utah and Arizona, nature reserves and a lot of places for entertainment and sports.

Airplanes every minute, anywhere in the world, understandable conditions for business. Now, to be honest, I mostly only work, but I will take time to travel.

In the US, there is everything you need, and the culture here is suitable, because the country is immigrant.

In my Sunny Isles, everything is in Russian - banks, shops, cafes, notaries, UBER drivers and hairdressers, our stars fly in every month, once a month I accidentally meet friends from college, work, I even met a neighbor from my hometown by chance.

Adapting is very easy.

Critical cons not noticed yet. People like, always smile and ask how you doing? Overall positive plus the sun almost always.
