Mahmoud Abbas: “No more Oslo”

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas rejected proposal US President Donald Trump renounced his claims to Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, making its main city the suburbs of Abu Dis. The politician called the decision of the White House to recognize the “holy city” as the capital of Israel “the slap in the face of the century” regarding attempts to resolve the conflict in the Middle East, reports DW.

“Now is a critical moment. Our future is at stake,” Abbas was quoted as saying by the DPA news agency.

He was speaking at a two-day meeting of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), at which the Palestinians are expected to develop a strategy to counter US moves on Jerusalem, which Trump "cleared from the negotiating table with one tweet." The organization also announced the possibility of revising the Oslo agreement in 1993, according to which, in particular, the PLO recognized the existence of the State of Israel.

“There is no more Oslo,” Abbas said, according to the AFP news agency.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman explained why Palestinians live poorly and are not interested in peace with Israel.

“Abu Mazen is trying to destroy our home. He is not interested in improving the lives of Palestinians. He is driven by a passion for destruction."

“Abu Mazen behaves as if he is eternal, as if he is the only ruler. He is against elections and does not see reality. The entire Arab world makes it clear to him: if we have to choose between you and the United States, we will go with the United States,” the head of the Ministry of Defense said in a conversation with “NEWS«.

According to Avigdor Lieberman, representatives of the PA administration are taking part in the mass unrest that has been taking place recently in the territories. “I saw pictures of those involved in clashes with IDF soldiers. All the main provocateurs are on the payroll of the PA administration or members of the PA security forces. Personally, I don’t remember ordinary Palestinians rushing to comply with Abu Mazen’s every call.”

The Minister of Defense does not consider it right to prevent the free movement of Abu Mazen throughout Judea, Samaria, and throughout the world. “Israel does not want to lead the lives of the Palestinians instead of Abu Mazen,” the minister added.
