The administration of US President Donald Trump has put forward a proposal to declare the suburb of Jerusalem Abu Dis as the capital of Palestine.

Washington has already informed the representatives of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas, reports Anadolu.

According to the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, the US plan envisages the organization of the capital in Abu Dis and its connection with a special bridge to the Temple Mount to guarantee unimpeded access of Muslims to Jerusalem.

The suburb of Abu Dis is adjacent to the eastern part of the city, the distance from its center to the Temple Mount is just over one kilometer.

In addition, Washington proposes to divide the area of ​​the Temple Mount into three parts: for Muslims, Jews and Christians.

In addition, the US offers a comprehensive solution to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip through political reforms there. The details of this plan, the Hamas leader did not lead.

Earlier, Hamas declared its complete rejection of the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and transfer the US embassy to this city, the organization proposed to launch a new intifada (armed uprising) against Israel.

December 25, following the United States, Guatemala announced the transfer of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Israelis consider Jerusalem their capital. Palestinians insist that the capital of the future Palestinian state should be located in the eastern part of Jerusalem.

Israel declared Jerusalem its capital after the end of the War of Independence in 1949. In 1967, after the Six Day War, he captured East Jerusalem and united it with West, but the UN did not recognize this because of the claims of Palestine, so the city was divided into zones of influence and is considered an occupied territory, and all diplomatic missions of countries that have relations with Israel located mainly in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Herzliya.
