A man pushed two American women off a cliff in Germany: one of them died
One of the American women died on June 14, and the other was injured. The man pushed them off a cliff near Neuschwanstein Castle, a popular German tourist site at the foot of the Alps. The publication told more about what happened The New York Times.
Police in Bavaria, the land in which the castle is located, said they had arrested a 30-year-old American suspect after a manhunt that involved a helicopter and search dogs. Now law enforcement officers are looking for witnesses who saw or filmed an episode in which a man tried to rape one of the victims.
“This is a very rare story that needs close attention,” said Holger Stubik, a police spokesman. “In general, we rarely have crimes.”
Police are not releasing the names of the victims, the suspects, or the states of residence.

Two friends, aged 21 and 22, visited this place as tourists. The women were near the castle when they met an American who persuaded them to join him on a little-used unofficial hiking trail that led into the woods to the picturesque cliffs surrounding the castle.
According to them, once, being out of sight of a busy path, he attacked a 21-year-old girl. According to police, when the 22-year-old friend tried to intervene, the man pushed her off a steep cliff and then tried to rape the 21-year-old girl, after which he pushed her off the cliff.
Both women fell about 150 feet, police said. Shortly after, they were rescued by local mountain patrol and transported by emergency air transport to the hospital. The 45,7-year-old woman died that night from her injuries.
The 22-year-old victim is in a stable condition and is talking to investigators, according to police.
Neuschwanstein Castle, located near the Austrian border, is one of Germany's most popular tourist destinations. The castle, built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the second half of the 1,4th century, attracts about XNUMX million visitors every year.

Eric Abnery, 21, a New York native, said he visited the castle with friends on a tour of Europe on Wednesday, June 14. When they saw the helicopter attempting to rescue the two women, they assumed it was just an ordinary camping accident. But soon the tourists saw the police taking the man away.
The detainee, according to eyewitnesses, did not resist when he was taken away by the police, and he had the appearance of an “ordinary tourist”.
“The only thing that caught my eye was that he had a lot of red marks on his face and neck,” Abnery said.
