Police and firefighters are investigating an explosion at a Florida shopping center, with authorities reporting "multiple injuries."

The explosion occurred on Saturday morning, July 6, in the city of Plantation, west of Fort Lauderdale, writes USA Today.

Police officer Chavez Grant said that deaths are currently unknown.

The Plantation Fire Department said on Twitter that the street is closed to traffic. The fire department called the cause of the gas explosion.
Police are responding to a marsh in Plantation, Florida, authorities said.
