Farias recently made headlines when his mother, Giani Santana, told reporters that he had been found after disappearing on March 6, 2015. According to her, Texas law enforcement told her that her son was found beaten near the church.

Authorities announced they would be questioning Farias, who his mother said was "reticent." Soon, neighbors' claims that he had never really gone missing raised questions about Santana's account of the events.

“I heard terrible things from this young man, and I didn’t want him to see me cry, but it was hard to hold back the tears,” Quanell X said. “No child should have to endure this from their own mother.”

Farias admitted that his mother sexually and physically abused him, forced him to take hallucinogenic mushrooms, and hid him at home at the time she claimed he was missing and publicly pleaded for his safe return.

Farias accused his mother of holding him captive and abusing him. She made him "play daddy" when he was naked in bed, treated him like a slave, and gave him hallucinogenic drugs.

Quanell X explained that Farias first fled in 2015 and was considered missing, but returned home after only two days. After that, Santana told her son that he would have to go into hiding or he would be arrested if he tried to escape again.

“So she hid it in the house, and at first, whenever investigators came, she hid it,” he explained. “The guy kept saying, ‘I don’t want to go to jail.’”

“So if he went missing eight years ago, how the hell did he end up with his mother’s credit card from just two years ago in his pocket?” Quanell wondered.

Farias said he was tired of "living like a slave" as Santana forced her to take on her work load.

“She drugged him, punished him by locking him in his room over and over again,” Quanell X said, fighting back tears. “She convinced her son that law enforcement wanted to put him in prison, they were looking for him because he had escaped.”

Further, according to Quanelle X, Farias managed to steal his mother's car and escape sometime last week before he crashed the car. Later, Farias was found near the church.

The Houston Police Department said it would not comment on the allegations against Santana.

“Today, detectives from our Missing Persons Unit interviewed 25-year-old Rudy Farias and his mother,” HPD said in a statement. “While there are reports that some of the content of the interview is being published, our detectives are currently unable to discuss either the specifics of the interview or whether the published content is factual.”

As Lopez assured, in 2018 she called 911 and said that her cousin was at home.

This coincides with the date when, according to the police, they received such a tip, which they eventually answered, but Farias was not found there.

She said that their grandmother was in regular contact with Farias, whom the neighbors knew as Dolph.

“She simply said: “I saw Rudy - he came to see me, we said hello and talked a little.” The grandmother never went into details, but she said that she saw him,” Lopez said.
