The car rammed a school bus stop, killing three children
During boarding the bus, three children died, another child is in serious condition in the hospital.
The Tippecanoe Valley School bus stopped to take children to school in Rochester, Indiana. But around 7 in the morning, when the children crossed the road to get on the bus, they were hit by a pick-up truck, police said.
Three children, among whom was a girl 9 years and her 6-year-old twin brothers, died from their injuries at the scene. The 11-year-old boy, who also crossed the road, received several bone fractures. During the ambulance, he was conscious and talked to the doctors. After, he was hospitalized in the hospital.
The names of the dead children were not reported. The police said that the surviving boy was not somehow associated with the dead children.
The culprit of the fatal accident was interrogated, but it is unclear whether she will face criminal charges in connection with the death of children. Indiana law requires motorists to stop when a school bus picks up or drops children.
“This is a real tragedy,” the officer said. “We are all responsible for following the rules on the road, and we are all responsible for making sure our children get to and from school safely.”
