Leah Akhedzhakova and Dmitry Nazarov were fired from their theaters because they are against the war in Ukraine

The performance of People's Artist of the Russian Federation Liya Akhedzhakova "The Gin Game" was removed from the repertoire of the Moscow Sovremennik Theater. In the performance, the 84-year-old actress played one of the main roles, according to Politeka.

The director of the theater Yuri Kravets announced the cancellation of the performance to the actress.

“The director warned me that I would no longer be in the repertoire at the request of some angry people writing letters to him. And the Department of Culture confirmed that I should be removed from the theater’s repertoire. I sit and cry. I understand everything, I know who writes this, who organizes it, but nothing can be done,” said the artist.

The secretary of the director of Sovremennik confirmed that on February 13 the performance of The Gin Game was canceled and could never be seen again. The theater's website reports that the performances of The Gin Game on February 13 and 28, as well as on March 29, "will not take place", reports Meduza.

Liya Akhedzhakova noted that she had not received offers from other theaters and, in her opinion, she would not receive: “This is the Department of Culture of Moscow.”

“I asked human rights activist Eva Merkacheva, as a member of the Presidential Council for Human Rights, to ask the Department of Culture to what extent is this their idea? Or did the director ask for it? Who is the author of this idea to remove me in almost 50 years of service to Sovremennik, to remove me from the stage of this wonderful theater, which I am unworthy of?” - says the artist.

Last year, after complaints from Russian Officers, the theater canceled the show of the play First Bread, where the actress also played.

After the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Liya Akhedzhakova repeatedly advocated ending the war. She also urged people not to remain silent about their anti-war stance.

It is reported that the actors were fired for their critical statements about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as well as for “anti-Russian sentiments,” reports “Фокус". Dmitry Nazarov is a Russian theater and film actor, People's Artist of the Russian Federation. He is best known to the mass audience for the television series “Kitchen”, where he played the role of chef Viktor Barinov. He opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as did his wife, actress Olga Vasilyeva.

Nazarov was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov in 2002, before that he served at the Maly Theater, then at the Sphere Theater and the Theater of the Russian Army. The actor has played more than 40 roles in films and TV series, including Golden Calf, Penal Battalion, Turkish March. Vasilyeva has been playing at the Moscow Art Theater since 2005, reports “RBC".

Sources say that Khabensky repeatedly talked with Nazarov, trying to supposedly “comprehend” him, but then he saw some interview where the actor “throws mud at Russia” and decided to fire him.

According to the NeMalakhov telegram channel, Khabensky was “pushed” to make a decision to fire Nazarov. Although the second wife of Russian director Fyodor Bondarchuk, Paulina Andreeva, continues to serve in the theater, she openly spoke out against Russia’s war with Ukraine on Instagram, and also signed a letter from the scriptwriters of the Russian Federation demanding an end to the invasion.

After the outbreak of the war, the actor criticized the hostilities more than once: he began to publish poems and songs on his YouTube channel, in which he criticizes Russia's actions in Ukraine and the Russian authorities.
