Bloody Independence Day in Chicago: 100 man injured, 15 killed

Four days off on the occasion of US Independence Day, celebrated on July 4, more than 100 people were injured in Chicago, 15 were killed.

Reporters CBS News held on July 4 as part of a police raid group, which was led by a former leader of a gangster group, and now a police officer. So, according to journalists, around midnight on July 4, 2 people were shot in one of the side streets of Chicago. After two in the morning, journalists saw the corpse of another man who was shot in the head with a shot.

On the eve of the holidays, the Chicago police department announced that they are changing the way they work to prevent violence. A separate group was created that was supposed to stop the illegal flow of weapons. However, law enforcement officers failed to cope with criminal gangs who arrange gunfights.

The publication notes that it was often difficult to distinguish the sound of fireworks being launched from gunshots. However, according to local residents, they learned to distinguish these sounds. Locals believe that the level of violence has increased due to social instability, many young people join gangs and start selling drugs and weapons.

Note that last year 66 people suffered during the holiday weekend. At the same time, the Chicago authorities believe that they manage to gradually reduce the level of violence on the streets of the city. At least according to statistics, the use of firearms this year was 14% less than in the past.
