The Chinese airline sold tickets for $1,4: the error was noticed too late, and the flight took place

One Chinese carrier said it would not cancel flights priced at 10 Chinese yuan (about $1,40) that were sold at that price due to a system glitch. The publication told in more detail Business Insider.

According to media reports, a glitch occurred in the China Southern Airlines application on November 8 in the evening around 20:00. At this time, users of Chinese social networks began to report that tickets for flights to and from Chengdu could be purchased at prices ranging from 10 to 30 yuan ($1,4-$4,1).

In one of the screenshots distributed on the Internet, a ticket from Chengdu to Beijing cost 10 yuan ($1,4). The starting fare for flights over the next week was about 400 yuan ($54,8).

The outage also affected China Southern ticket prices on other ticketing platforms.

It is unclear how many such tickets China Southern sold or which routes were affected by the system glitch.

On November 9, on its official page on the Weibo social network, China Southern Airlines announced that tickets paid for and issued during the system outage were “all valid” and customers could use them.

The Guangzhou-based airline, among other things, reminded travelers to check promotions this coming weekend ahead of Singles' Day, China's biggest shopping holiday, which this year begins on Saturday, November 11.

But not all buyers of random ultra-cheap airline tickets are so lucky.
