The canals of Venice were left without water, the gondolas got stuck in the mud: PHOTO
Venice is an Italian city for which floods are quite frequent phenomena. Therefore, the sharp drop in water that happened the other day was a surprise for many and mostly unpleasant, because you can hardly ride a gondola in a dry canal. The only plus is the opportunity to see with my own eyes such a rare picture, writes Adme.
Many factors led to a drop in the water level: cold weather, lack of rain, and the recent super-moon (January 31, 2018), which affected the tides.
Photos taken this week show Venice not in the best light. Boats and gondolas, stuck in mud and mud, look not at all romantic.
In some places, the water level has dropped by almost 60 cm.
This is the 3-th year in a row, when such an unusual drought is observed in Venice. By the way, a record low water level drop was recorded in the 1934 year - see 121.
