Texas tornado kills 23: Tens of thousands of Kentuckians without power
23 people were injured as a result destructive storms and tornadoes that hit Texas, tens of thousands more were left without power in Kentucky. The publication told more about the elements USA Today.
Mississippi, the Midwest and Ohio are facing the threat of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.
Storms are likely to be accompanied by damaging winds and "very large hail" the size of baseballs, the weather service said. On April 13, several states issued tornado warnings, including parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
The Storm Prediction Center said more severe weather is forecast along the east coast on April 14. The area of greatest risk will be the northeast.
Twenty-three people were injured, 23 of them hospitalized, after a tornado struck Salado, Texas, a rural town in Bell County, Bell County Judge David Blackburn said.

“Large trees were uprooted; in many places the buildings actually turned into ruins. Power lines are down everywhere. A devastating picture,” he concluded.
A severe storm broke out in Louisville, Kentucky. More than 19 people were left without power in the city, according to LG&E, and nearly 000 of the company's customers across the region were left without power.
There have been tens of thousands of power outages in Texas, according to poweroutage.us.
The tornado, which was part of a storm that stretched from Austin to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, was accompanied by grapefruit-sized hail. According to meteorologists, hailstones up to 5,5 inches (14 cm) in diameter hit the Salado area.
As the tornado hurtled toward the city at 30 miles (48 km) an hour, the weather service urged residents to seek shelter. Hail and the potential for dangerous flash floods compounded the threat.
On April 13, the weather service announced that they had begun a damage survey in Williamson and Bell counties in Texas.

Other tornadoes were also reported on April 12. Damage has been reported in several states, including Iowa, where at least two tornadoes have been confirmed.

Tornadoes, accompanied by hail, also hit Arkansas near Bloomer, Charleston, and Scranton. According to local media reports, several people were rescued in Bossier City (Louisiana) after the elements knocked down trees on houses.
Further north, a snowstorm raged on April 13.

"Travel can be difficult or impossible, with widespread power outages and tree damage expected," the weather service said. “Possible significant impact on livestock.”
More than a foot (30 cm) of snow was reported in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The North Dakota Capitol, schools, government offices and interstate highways remain closed.
