From San Francisco to San José in 18 minutes: experimental flying taxi
Company owned Airbus Startup Vahana published a video demonstrating the flying taxi he was developing.
It all starts with calling a drone through an application in a smartphone, tells Rosbalt. The client immediately sets the destination point, after which the taxi automatically lays the route taking into account the air traffic. The drone lands on the “parking” closest to the client, which can be the roof of a building. Before departure, the electronics conducts diagnostics of all aircraft systems.
In the video, a woman named Deborah calls an air taxi with a special application on her smartphone. She then travels from San Jose to San Francisco, California.
Flight costs her 77 dollars, travel time - 18 minutes. A similar trip by car, given the traffic jams, would take at least several hours.
Vahana is under development. It is assumed that the machine, designed for one passenger, will be equipped with eight propellers and will be able to perform vertical takeoff and landing.
