December 28 in New York residents of several streets told about the blue bright glow in the sky. Writes TJournal, many began to joke about the invasion of aliens - what was happening reminded the film "Monster". However, this transformer exploded at the plant of the energy company Consolidated Edison.

As explained to the police, no one was injured as a result of the incident, and the fire was under control. The explosion led to power outages: for example, because of this, several flights were delayed at La Guardia airport.
