Ignore requests: Interpol made a loud statement on Russia

The Interpol central bureau sent a warning to all member states of the international police union that Russia unilaterally has no right to use the organization’s channels for pursuing its own goals, advising them to ignore the requests of the Russian authorities.

According to "Voice of America, law enforcement agencies were also notified that Interpol blocked Moscow’s request for the arrest of a British businessman Hermitage Capital Management Bill Browder.

As stated by the agency Bloomberg the financier himself, on Thursday he received a letter from the Interpol Data Verification Commission in which it was reported that Moscow’s request to add Browder to the list of especially wanted persons was rejected.

“The most important thing is that they informed all the participating countries that they should not pay attention to any inquiries concerning me and coming from Russia,” said the businessman.

October 17 of this year, the Russian branch of Interpol unilaterally entered the name of the entrepreneur in the list of wanted international criminals.

In the 2013 year, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow found Bill Browder in absentia guilty of tax evasion on a large scale. Another criminal case on the same charge was completed in Russia in February 2017. In the same month, the Tverskoy court, at the request of the investigation, authorized his arrest.

In recent years, the businessman has led a campaign to impose international sanctions on Russian officials responsible for human rights violations. As a result, including his efforts, the United States and several other countries of the world passed laws introducing visa and financial restrictive measures against a number of representatives of the Russian authorities.
