Often their victims were of obvious interest to intelligence services - for example, Russian journalists, among whom prosecutors name a certain Kommersant correspondent, Russian and American government officials and employees of a “prominent Russian cybersecurity company.” The same category included the personnel of other providers whom the conspirators intended to use.

But sometimes the defendants hacked into the personal accounts of employees of commercial entities, such as an unnamed “Russian investment banking firm,” a French shipping company, a Swiss Bitcoin wallet, or a U.S. airline.

While fulfilling the tasks of his curators from the FSB, Belan did not forget about himself. According to prosecutors, he stole the details of credit cards and gift cards, and also sent traffic to seekers of money from impotence to the address of a certain pharmacy, which rewarded him with commissions.

According to the indictment, when Dokuchaev and Sushchin learned that the object of interest has mail accounts with other providers, for example, Google, they charged their Canadian accomplice, Baratov, to get into them and paid him a commission at the rate of $ 100 for each account.

In total, Baratov allegedly received illegal access to more than 80 mailboxes.

On March 7, the US Department of Justice presented a temporary arrest warrant to the Canadian authorities. The prosecutor's office also requires confiscating the contents of his account in the payment company PayPal addressed Elite Space Corporation, Gray Aston Martin DBS with order number Mr. Karim and black Mercedes Benz C54.

All four are facing a whole bunch of charges - from computer fraud to conspiracy to commit economic espionage. In theory, they face decades in federal prison.
