FBI called the most cruel city of America

According to the FBI for 2016 a year, Detroit received the title of the most brutal major city in America. But Detroit police chief James Craig disagrees with the FBI statistics.

Craig compared the data of his department and the FBI and found out that the difference is about 1000 cases. So, according to the FBI in 2016, 9 882 attacks were reported in Detroit, while, according to the Detroit police, the attacks were 8 916.

There were 13 violent crimes reported in Detroit last year, including murder, rape, assault and robbery, according to the FBI. This is 705% more than a year earlier - 15,7.

After Detroit in the FBI rankings go St. Louis, Memphis, Baltimore and Rockford. In 2015, St. Louis was named the most violent city in America.

Some data from the FBI report:

• In 2016, in Detroit, 303 murders were committed on 669 000 people, which is 3% higher than a year earlier. However, this is not the highest rate. First place in 100 killings 000 people take St. Louis (60 people), followed by Baltimore (51 people), and Detroit comes in third place (45 killings for 100 000 residents).

Craig believes that the FBI data is incorrect due to the fact that they use the old CRISNET system, which was replaced in December in Detroit. This system could give the statistics repeated incidents, or duplicate incidents in different categories (for example, murder and suicide). Craig noted that he warned FBI officials of data discrepancies.

“Overall crime is down 24% as of Sept. 7,” Craig said, noting the department's goal is to reduce overall crime by 2017% for 5.

The FBI also released crime statistics at the national level. According to their data, in 2016, the crime rate in the USA increased by 4,1% compared to the previous year. On the other hand, property crimes in 2016 decreased by 1,3%.

FBI nationwide crime data for 2016:

• 1,2 recorded a million crimes of a violent nature.
• The number of homicides and homicides by negligence increased by 8,6%.
• Rogue attacks and rapes increased by 5,1% and 4,9% respectively.
• Cases of theft and theft decreased by 1,5%, but car thefts increased by 7,4%.
