Two former employees sue Google for 'discrimination against white men'
Company Google accused of “discrimination against white men of conservative views.” James Damore and David Goodman, two former engineers at the company, filed a class action lawsuit against the company in Santa Clara County Superior Court in California.
Men say they want to represent all workers who have been discriminated because of their conservative views, as well as belonging to the male and white race.
The organizer of the lawsuit was James Dimore, who was dismissed last year for an official note, which spoke about the biological differences between men and women and criticized the leadership Google gender equality policy.
In their lawsuit, Dymor and Goodman argue that Google when hiring, he resorts to illegal quotas in order to hire as many women and representatives of national minorities as possible.
They accuse the company of discriminating against other employees and the inability to protect workers with conservative views, including supporters of President Donald Trump.
The lawsuit states that the company was openly threatened and harassed and humiliated men. It also states that Google openly shames managers who do not fulfill the tasks assigned to them, sometimes going as far as publicly bothering them during meetings.
Damon's memo has sparked heated discussion about freedom of speech in the workplace and differences in Silicon Valley.
In the lawsuit, Dymor insists that the note was not intended to be distributed outside the company. He claims that he only filled out a feedback form after attending the summit about diversity and inclusion.
Head Google Sundar Pichai, commenting on Damon's dismissal, stated that some parts of the note violated the code of corporate ethics. They implanted dangerous gender stereotypes in the workplace.
However, Dymor himself claims that he received many personal messages from employees Googlewho thanked him for his openness.
Another lawsuit was filed against the court. Google - from former employees of the company. They argued that women in the company were paid less than men for similar work. As a result, the case was closed, but then reopened after amendments were made to the statement of claim.
