Thought the cops would save: father got 28 years in prison for leaving his daughter in a burning car
A South Carolina man who left his 19-month-old daughter to die in a burning car during a police chase was sentenced to 28 years in prison for his gruesome crime. Writes about it New York Post.
Imhotep Norman, 28, from Spartanburg, South Carolina, was convicted on several counts of murder, child abuse, evading police, drug possession. The incident took place in April 2019. Little Xena Norman died in a burning car.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol attempted to stop Norman for speeding after he accelerated to 67 miles (107 km) per hour in the 45 mph (72 km) per hour zone.

Norman raced down I-85, running from the cops. Suddenly, smoke poured out of the car, and it caught fire.
The police reported that the pursued stopped, jumped out of the car and fled into the forest. True, at first he threw a backpack into the car, which turned out to be full of drugs. But worst of all, Norman left his little daughter to die.

Firefighters found the girl's body only after extinguishing the fire.
Norman was caught a few hours later. The detainee made excuses, saying that he thought that the police would save Xena after he escaped.
