A village in Switzerland is buying new residents
The village of Albanen in Switzerland lures new residents, offering them a substantial amount. According to the program developed by the local authorities, a family with two children can receive 70 thousand francs ($ 71 284) for relocation, writes RG.
Mayor Beat Jost is forced to resort to such an unusual measure due to a catastrophic population decline. Today, only 240 residents remain in the mountain village (however, even in the best of times - 1900 - only 380 people lived in it). After the departure of several families, the authorities were even forced to close the local school because there were no students left. And now the last 7 schoolchildren are forced to travel to classes in neighboring cities.
Anyone who agrees with these conditions will be able to settle in a very picturesque place. According to local authorities, there are magnificent landscapes, a calm atmosphere, clean air and resorts with thermal waters quite close to it.
This is not the first case when extraordinary measures are taken to attract new residents. Earlier, Swiss municipalities offered big discounts on the purchase of land or housing, low electricity prices. Italian city Candela will give on 2 thousands of euros to immigrants. And in Sicily, they are ready to give their homes to new residents for just 1 euros.
