Former Auschwitz prisoner marries 39-year-old Russian woman in New York

July 2 Jack Garfein, who went through the Holocaust, celebrated his 86 birthday in a circle of friends and his 39-year-old girlfriend Natalia Repolovskaya, whom he proposed.

“I just told her, ‘I can’t live without you. Will you marry me?". And she answered: “Of course, yes. Why did it take you so long to propose?” Garfein tells the New York Post.

The couple met 28 on April 2012 at one of the events in Manhattan, shortly after Natalia moved to the United States from Russia. On the Repolovskaya page Facebook it is reported that she is from Moscow.

“He shook my hand so firmly that I immediately thought - this is a daring guy,” says Natalya. “When I returned home, I said to myself: “Lord, I don’t believe that you sent me an 82-year-old man to fall in love. I'm only 36."

Garfein, in turn, said that he was instantly conquered by a new acquaintance, and they exchanged phone numbers to meet in a week.

“My first impression of Natalya was what a beautiful girl,” says Jack Garfein. —

On the way back from our first date, we were talking in a taxi, and I immediately realized that this was a man who understood me. I had never felt such a connection before. When we kissed for the first time, it was an absolute blast."

Jack and Natalia, who is a technical documentation specialist, live in his apartment in the Manhattan Upper West Side.

Jack Garfein was born in Czechoslovakia into a Jewish family that owned a timber warehouse. His parents and sister died in the gas chambers of the concentration camps, and he managed to escape after being in 11 camps, including Auschwitz.

In the 1945 year, when the British army liberated the Bergen-Belsen camp in Germany, it weighed only 21 kg. A year later, Jack went to the United States, being in the company of famous actors.

Garfein collaborated with Marlon Brando, Marilyn Monroe, Paul Neumann and other stars, and is also considered to be the man who opened such actors as Steve McQueen, Ben Gazzara and George Peppard to the cinema.

In addition, Jack Garfein is the director of two 1957 and 1961 films of release.

He has 4 children from two marriages. Earlier, Jack spent a lot of time in London and Paris, where he taught acting, now he and Natalia spend weekends in Central Park in New York and enjoy breakfast together.

“I want a real wedding, and it’s going to be a great party,” Garfein promises.

The wedding is scheduled to play in September.
