Bank of America opened three offices without staff

Bank of America has opened 3 offices where there are no staff. These are fully automated branches where customers can use ATMs and communicate via videoconference with employees in other branches, reports Reuters citing bank spokesman Ann Pace.

Like many US banks, Bank of America had to reduce the total number of branches in recent years to cut costs.

New offices tend to focus on selling mortgages, credit cards, and auto loans, rather than simple transactions, such as cashing checks.

Pace said that offices in Minneapolis and Denver are fully automated and relatively new to consumers. They are small in size - like a quarter of a standard bank branch.

Bank of America plans to open new branches from 50 to 60 next year, although at the same time the bank will close its other branches, so the number in 50-60 does not represent a significant increase.

In 2016, Bank of America opened a new branch of 31. At the end of the 4 quarter, it counted the 4 579 financial centers, compared with the 4 726 in that period of the 2015 of the year and the 5 of 900 at the end of the 2010 of the year.
