Biden officially named the new US ambassador to Russia
President Biden appointed Lynn Tracy as ambassador to the Russian Federation on September 20 to resolve tensions between the US and Russia amid the war in Ukraine, reports The Hill.
Previously, Tracy has been the US Ambassador to Armenia since 2019.
Prior to that, she was Senior Advisor for Russia in the State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs and was Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Moscow.
Former Ambassador John Sullivan left Russia in early September after serving in the post for nearly three years. Biden retained President Trump's nominee Sullivan.

The administration said Sullivan's sudden departure was planned and a new ambassador would be appointed shortly.
After Sullivan's departure, Elizabeth Rude, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Moscow, took his place.
Tracy, who is fluent in Russian, has also served as Deputy Chief of Mission for the US Embassy in Turkmenistan, Senior Officer in Pakistan, and Senior Officer in Kazakhstan.
Her domestic appointments include Desk Officer for Kazakhstan and Georgia at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. She has received the State Department's Distinguished Service Award, the Secretary of State's Heroism Award, and the President's Lifetime Achievement Award.
