US cities have supported a resolution to impeach Trump
The Cambridge City Council (Massachusetts) has joined a resolution calling on Congress to launch an investigation to declare an impeachment to US President Donald Trump on the basis of an alleged conflict of interest.
Similar resolutions, which are largely symbolic, have already been adopted by the municipalities of Richmond (Virginia), Berkeley and Alameda (California), reports Yahoo.
The authorities of these cities claim that before the inauguration Trump refused to do business and receive the appropriate income, but did not refuse to receive remuneration from the authorities of foreign states or American states, which is contrary to the US Constitution.
“On January 11, 2017, nine days before his inauguration, Donald Trump announced a plan that would relieve him of the day-to-day operations of running his business but would not eliminate the ongoing flow of remuneration from foreign, state, or U.S. governments,” it said. in the resolution.
According to its authors, such violations "undermine the institution of the presidency, corrupt the president’s personal wealth and violate public trust in him."
At the same time, the authorities adopted the resolution of the cities claim that the Congress’s investigation should not be limited only to the question of the legitimacy of Trump’s remuneration, if any.
19 January before the inauguration of Trump wrote a statement in which he announced that he was leaving from all posts in the companies to which he somehow related. The list of these 400 companies ranked 19 pages. Trump's lawyers have previously stated that any conflict of interest is excluded.
