US media asked what Russian Americans think about Trump and Putin
Journalists Yahoo asked residents of Brighton Beach in New York - one of the largest “Russian” areas in the United States - what they think about US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The answers were very different.
Many praised Trump for stating that “he does an excellent job” or simply noting that he is rated “positive.” The woman said that her family voted for Trump and he “likes them”.
“We love it because my parents are still in Russia, and we really think it will improve life in the United States,” noted one respondent.
At the same time, the man stressed, “that so far Trump has not fulfilled any of his promises, and his activity is more like a show than a government of the country”.
"He is a businessman. Therefore, perhaps he lacks knowledge for politics. But let’s give him a chance,” said one interviewee, adding that she did not support or vote for him, but still believes he deserves a chance.
Opinions about Putin are also divided.
“I think he's doing a great job of destabilizing the Western world. I think that’s one of his main goals and he’s doing a great job,” said one respondent.
Another survey participant admitted that she did not like Putin because of his “dictatorial manners”.
“He is very smart, he does what he has to do,” the elderly woman noted.
“I love Putin. I think he took enough money for himself, so now he is doing something for the country, and Russia needs a strong leader, because everyone there is crazy,” said one of the respondents, adding that she does not see a problem in corruption, because it available everywhere - in Russia, USA, Europe.
One of the survey participants said that before judging Putin, one should pay attention to the aggressive US foreign policy and not apply double standards to such actions.
On the question of whether Russia intervened in the elections in the United States, some responded with absolute certainty that this happened, while others were also at all 100% sure that there was no interference. At the same time, the majority of respondents expressed belief that relations between Russia and the United States would soon improve.
