In Russia, sanctions goods will be destroyed on the spot
Russian President Vladimir Putin agrees with the idea to destroy on the spot sanctions goods imported into Russia. This way of solving the problem was proposed by the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, Alexander Tkachev.
He was supported by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
In late June, the Russian authorities extended embargo on deliveries of products from countries that have imposed sanctions against Russia in connection with the situation in Ukraine and the annexation of the Crimea, until August 2016. Before that, the European Union has increased the term of economic sanctions against Russia for six months.
In early July, the Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region ruled onthat a ban on the importation of sanctions products is not equivalent to a ban on its sale. Rospotrebnadzor appealed against this decision and demanded to cancel the permission to sell sanctions products.
