The United States sent warships to the Black Sea to support Ukraine

The United States sent 2 warships to the Black Sea due to the fact that Russia is building up its military power on the border with Ukraine and in the annexed Crimea. The ships will be there until May 4. The edition told more with the BBC.

“15 days ago, a message was sent to us through the diplomatic channel that two US warships will sail into the Black Sea in accordance with the Montreux Convention. The ships will remain in the Black Sea until May 4,” the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

Russian media said that Turkey has already informed the Russian Federation that American warships will enter the Black Sea.

In accordance with the Montreux Convention, Turkey sent a message to all its participants about the passage of warships to the Black Sea.

The Montreux Convention, signed in 1936, states that Turkey has sovereignty over the Bosporus and Dardanelles and controls the passage of warships of non-Black Sea states to the Black Sea. Such ships can stay in the Black Sea for a maximum of 21 days.

The news about the American ships is directly related to the large-scale build-up of the number of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.

Russian investigators with the Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT) have discovered a new field army camp near the Ukrainian border in the Voronezh region of Russia.

The investigators note that the troop movements that are now taking place are the largest since the days of Debaltseve in 2015.

Many observers believe that such actions by the Kremlin are an information and psychological operation of pressure on the Ukrainian authorities and the new US administration.

Dmitry Kozak, deputy head of the Russian presidential administration and Kremlin representative to the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk, said on April 8 that if Ukraine resumes hostilities in Donbas, it will be the end for the state.

“I believe that there are already such assessments, and I support those that exist within Ukraine: the beginning of hostilities is the beginning of the end of Ukraine. This is a crossbow, a shot not in the leg, but in the temple,” commented Kozak, who is called “the Kremlin’s curator of Donbass.”

He also said that Russia will protect Russian citizens living in Donbas.

The United States has repeatedly expressed concern about the escalation of the conflict in Donbass and the actions of Russia, in particular, we are building up military power on the border.

“Russia now has more troops on the border with Ukraine than at any time since 2014. This week alone, five Ukrainian soldiers were killed. These signals are deeply troubling,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated at one of the latest briefings.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited eastern Ukraine on April 8-9 and said that the Ukrainian authorities and the military are doing "everything to protect the Ukrainian state and ensure a ceasefire."

“When our soldiers are attacked and there are casualties, everyone understands that the army will respond,” Zelensky emphasized.
