Illegal pet: a 25-year-old alligator was kept in the basement of an Ohio apartment building
Ohio State Police shared photos taken when they removed an illegal pet from an apartment building, which turned out to be an alligator, writes UPI.
In the police department of the suburb of Madison, they said that on Thursday, February 27, officers were called and said that an alligator was illegally held in the basement of a house in Groveport.

Officers arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of the American alligator in the basement.
The department contacted the Ohio Department of Agriculture, which confirmed that residents did not have permission to keep an exotic animal.
The alligator, who, according to police, is about 25 years old, is now being sent to an animal shelter in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the department said.
