In honor of 4 July, an American turned a front lawn into an American flag
Arthur McCann from Norwood, Massachusetts, in his own way paid tribute to veterans in honor of Independence Day. The man turned the lawn in front of his own house into a giant American flag, using special paint for working in the fields.
Mccann said USA Todaythat the flag will remain on the lawn in its original form for at least several months before the grass grows up and the paint will have to be gradually cut off.
“I just like to go big,” the man admits. He estimates that the flag measures approximately 30 by 20 feet (9 by 6 meters). All the work to create it took about two hours. McCann's grandfather served in the US Navy during World War II. The flag, according to Arthur, is a kind of tribute to memory and respect for those who served the country.
Arthur creates the flag on the eve of the Fourth of July for the second time. He says locals come to his house specifically to look at the original lawn and see the owner's handiwork. McCann describes his neighborhood as “patriotic” and says neighbors have many American flags in their windows and yards. There are also many veterans living in the area.
McCann hopes that no one will misunderstand his action: this is not a political statement, but a patriotic gesture. “I do this to send a positive message,” the man says. He said he plans to invite about 75 people to the Independence Day party. “I love America, the freedom and opportunity it provides, and I love the creativity,” he adds.
