Which streets will be blocked in New York on July 4

The traditional fireworks show will take place on the East River on the 4th of July. Around three million spectators are expected to attend the event, with four barges launching 3 fireworks per minute during the 25-minute show. • 2nd Street between Borden Avenue and Newtown Creek / Dead End
• Vernon Boulevard between 54th Avenue and Newtown Creek / Dead End
• 54th Avenue between Center Boulevard and Vernon Boulevard

In both areas, the streets will be closed at the discretion of the NYPD, but you can expect them to be closed during the day and opened after the end of the fireworks show.

On Staten Island, meanwhile, the longest annual Independence Parade is planned for July 4th - the self-proclaimed Parade of Travis. This will be the 107-th annual event, which will begin at noon. The procession runs all over Travis, Staten Island, from noon to 3 hours, and this will certainly affect traffic.

• In Showplace Center (East Service Road) at Victory Boulevard and Glen Street

Route:

• Glen Street between Melvin Avenue and Cannon Avenue
• Cannon Avenue between Glen Street and Victory Boulevard
• Victory Boulevard between Cannon Avenue and Melvin Avenue

Ending:

• Melvin Avenue between Glen Street and Victory Boulevard

How will this affect the work of the metro, buses and ferries

On Wednesday the metro will operate on a Saturday schedule; There are some changes in services that are listed here. Some bus routes through Manhattan and Brooklyn will be changed due to the closure of streets for fireworks shows.

According to NBC4NY, “6 or 7 express services will not be provided. B trains will not operate, customers are advised to use the A, C, D and/or Q. Enhanced service will be offered on the 4, 7, A, C, F, N and S 42nd Street Shuttle before and after the fireworks show starting at 21 :25 to 9:50 pm.”

The event will also affect the NYC Ferry. All four of his routes will work in the weekend schedule with such changes:

East River route:

• Last departure from Wall St./Pier on E.34th Street: 1: 38 pm
• Last departure from E.34th St on Wall St./Pier 11: 2: 39 pm

Astoria Route:

• Last departure from Wall St./Pier 11 on Astoria: 1: 49 pm
• Last departure from Astoria on Wall St./Pier 11: 2: 34 pm

This day will not walk the shuttle bus in the city center. 5 July 2018 vehicles will resume their usual maintenance.
