71-th anniversary of the "capture of the flying saucer" in the United States: how did American theories about UFOs begin?

For people who believe in the existence of an alien mind and in alien visits to Earth, the upcoming July 2 is an important holiday. It was on that day that an incident occurred in 1947 near the city of Roswell, in the state of New Mexico, with the crash of an unidentified flying object.

The story of this event, as well as the incredible theories associated with it, was told by the publication “Currently,".

Conspiracy theories around the “Roswell incident” appeared much later than the crash itself. In the late 1970s, as ufology began to gain popularity, researchers drew attention to a press release from the command of the Roswell Army Air Force Base, which claimed that a “flying disc” had been discovered in a local farmer’s field and that the crashed device had been brought to the base. The press release was later withdrawn.

At the same time, publications were published in the local press with the headlines “flying saucer captured.” Thus, journalists gave the world a term that is actively used to describe aircraft of supposedly extraterrestrial origin.

It was not until the 1990s that the US Air Force released a report on the Roswell incident. According to these documents, a high-altitude probe launched as part of the secret Project Mogul crashed in New Mexico. Using helium-filled cylinders, sensitive microphones were launched to high altitudes, which were supposed to record sound waves from nuclear weapons tests in the USSR. This program was abandoned because seismic detectors turned out to be both cheaper and more efficient. But for many supporters of the theory of the existence of alien intelligence, this explanation only added conspiracy theories to the story of the crash.

According to YouGov polls, 56% of Germans, 54% of Americans and 52% of Britons believe in the existence of intelligent alien life. 25% of Russians believe that “flying saucers” appear on Earth.

Incidents with the secret programs of the Cold War, unusual weather events and meteorological probe launches became the basis for several dozens of conspiracy theories proving that the newcomers not only regularly visit Earth, but also often end up in fatal accidents.
Some theorists believe that aliens not only watch humanity, but also secretly control people.

Lizards or reptilians

The author of the theory that humanity is actually controlled by mysterious aliens who can take human form is the English conspiracy theorist David Icke. Since 1999, he has been conducting research on the topic of “what or who really runs the world.”

The writer claims that the alien reptiloids arrived on earth from the star of Alpha Dragon, which is located 310 light-years from Earth, and is now hiding in underground bases.

David Icke is sure that some of the world's leaders are actually reptilians. In July 2014, a resource that monitors Wikipedia edits by users with US Congress addresses recorded an edit to an article about “Reptiloids.” An unknown representative of Congress added to the article that “Ike’s allegations are completely unfounded and have nothing to do with reality.”

Nibiru

According to this theory, in 2012, the Earth was supposed to die due to a rapprochement with the mysterious planet X or the planet Nibiru. The end of the world was supposed to coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar. When this did not happen, the proponents of the theory were not too upset, continuing to believe that Nibiru would collide with the Earth, but a little later than they expected.

The author of this theory, “contactee” Nancy Leader, learned about the threat of a collision between a certain Planet X and the Earth from “gray aliens who kidnapped it from the star Zeta Reticulum” (a double star approximately 39 light years from the Solar System). She called the aliens "Zetas". She initially predicted that the disaster would occur in 2003, and also suggested that supporters euthanize their animals by this date so that they would not suffer.

In parallel with her, the conspiratorologist Zecharia Sitchin, born in Baku, began to develop a theory about the contacts of the ancient Sumerians with the highly developed Annunaki race. Ostensibly they created people with the help of genetic engineering.

Due to a collision with one of its satellites, Nibiru split in two and significantly changed its orbit, and now passes by the Earth once every 3600 years. But parts of the Annunaki managed to survive the catastrophe, and they visit our planet.

Zecharia Sitchin died in 2010, but shortly before his death he calculated the next date for the intersection of the Earth and Nibiru orbits: it will happen around 2085. "Contacter" Nancy Leader continues to warn humanity about death using the site ZetaTalk.com.

In Russia, the theory of Nibiru is promoted by the politician, leader of the Volya party, Svetlana Peunova. True, she is sure that this planet is inhabited not by the Anunnaki, but by the same reptilians.

Hollow Earth Theory

In 1964, conspiracy theorist Walter Siegmeister published a book under the pseudonym "Dr. Raymond W. Bernard" entitled "The Hollow Earth: Admiral Richard Byrd's Greatest Discovery in History in the Mysterious Land Beyond the Pole, or the Real Origin of Flying Saucers."

In it, the author brought together all the theories about the Hollow Earth. According to the ideas of those who believe in this hypothesis, our planet is empty inside, and on the other side of the surface lives a more technically advanced race than humanity. Portals into the Earth were allegedly discovered at the beginning of the 20th century at the North and South Poles. Through them, a mysterious race launches “flying saucers” for space travel.

Proponents of the theory argue that the tip of Nazi Germany, including Adolf Hitler, at the end of World War II were evacuated to a special base in Antarctica, and disappeared inside the Hollow Earth.

In search of evidence, Walter Zigmeister went to explore the caves of South America, where he contracted pneumonia and died.
