13 states where tax-free sales are held for a new academic year
Millions of American families with children who go to school or college can save a few dollars before the start of the school year. US states 13 conduct duty-free sales specifically for students and their parents.
In nine states, tax holidays fall on the first weekend of August: Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Virginia. In four states, duty-free sales will be held at the end of the month, writes USA Today.
Although many consumers are expected to take advantage of the opportunity to save money, the Tax Fund found that tax holidays "do not contribute to economic growth or a significant increase in consumer purchases ... they just endure the timing of purchases."

Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon do not need a tax holiday before the new school year - these states have no sales tax. In some states, including Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, most clothing items are tax-free year-round.
Where will be duty-free sales:
Tax holidays in honor of the upcoming school year do not apply to all cities and districts, and not all goods are exempt from taxes. It should be borne in mind that sales without taxes are held in online stores.
