Winter comes early: 8 states received a blizzard warning
This year, winter weather is creeping up early and early, with blizzard warnings already issued in eight states. Snow continues to fall in parts of the Rocky Mountains, blanketing Colorado, western Kansas and northern New Mexico with up to a foot or more of snow.
Blizzard warnings were also issued early Monday in five other states, including Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana, with forecasters predicting heavy snowfall, writes The Daily Mail.
And while the refreshingly cool autumn weather first arrived on the east coast, the plains and the Rocky Mountains are influenced by the arctic air, which brings record low temperatures for this season.
In social networks, local residents rush to share photos of the first snowfall in different parts of Colorado.
A thick blanket of white snow can be seen on roofs and terraces - snow caps are everywhere, including on outdoor furniture that has not yet been put away in the house after the summer holiday.
One woman published a photo of a winter fairy tale, signing this way: “I woke up to the snowfall! In Denver, 22 degrees (-5,5 Celsius). "
Snow continues to fall in areas of North Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
About two to four inches (5-10 cm) of snowfall is expected in areas of Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas and New Mexico over Monday.
According to the Weather Channel, parts of Montana, Wyoming and the Black Hills of South Dakota have already received from 6 to 12 inches (cm 15-30) of snow.
Meanwhile, the National Meteorological Service reported that in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Wet Mountains and on the Pikes Peak peak in Colorado, it could be 8 to 16 inches (20-40 cm) of snow.
The service warns that these weather conditions make travel "very dangerous or impossible."
“If you must travel, pack an extra set of flashlights, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” advises the National Weather Service.
In some parts of the Rocky Mountains, due to the cold snap, the roads were already officially closed, but a narrow stream of cars was started this weekend.
