The White House denied accreditation to CNN's chief correspondent, Jim Acosta, after a press conference at which he angered President Trump with his questions, and accused the journalist of assault on a woman.

CNN said the accusations against their correspondent were false, writes Air force.

A White House intern at the Donald Trump press conference on Wednesday attempted to take the microphone away from Acosta. The journalist did not give the microphone and kept asking the question.

President Trump's press secretary, Sarah Sanders, officially announced that the correspondent had lost his accreditation and access to the White House for "grossing himself in the face of a young woman who was simply doing her job."

The video of the press conference, which was devoted to the results of the mid-term elections in the United States, shows how Acosta dismissed a woman who had tried to interrupt him for only a second.

Donald Trump himself called the journalist “a rude, terrible person.”

What happened?

At a press conference, Jim Acosta asked the president several times why he constantly fanned fears about the so-called caravan of migrants from Honduras heading towards the American border.

“Enough is enough,” the president told the reporter, then ordered him to sit down and hand over the microphone.

"CNN should be ashamed that you work for them," Trump said.

At this point Acosta tried to ask Trump about Russia's possible interference in the US presidential election in 2016.

What does the White House say?

President Trump's spokeswoman Sarah Sanders tweeted: "The White House will not tolerate a reporter who disrespects a young woman who was just doing her job."

“The fact that CNN is proud of the behavior of its employee is not only disgusting, it is also an example of an outrageous disregard for everyone, including the young women working in this administration,” Sarah Sanders continued.

"As a result of this incident, the White House has indefinitely revoked this correspondent's security clearance," the tweet said.

The president's spokeswoman then played video of the incident, saying the White House will not tolerate "the unacceptable behavior that is clear to everyone in this video."

The video shows that for a split second Acosta touched the hand of the girl who had taken the microphone from him with the back of a hand.

CNN TV Response

CNN tweeted that Acosta was being punished for asking questions that were inconvenient for the president.

“Press Secretary Sarah Sanders lied,” the statement said. “She made false accusations and described an incident that did not happen.”

The White House Correspondents' Association also called the administration's decision regarding Acosta "out of line" and "unacceptable."

“We call on the White House to immediately reverse this unjustified decision,” the association said in a statement.

During the press conference, Donald Trump not only called Jim Acosta a terrible person, but also called the entire network "enemies of the people."
