A Florida resident threatens to burn down a house if a Muslim family buys it
The court sentenced 59-year-old David Howard from Tampa (Florida) to eight months in prison and two years of probation after his release, and also demanded that 30 000 be paid in restitution to the victims.
The man pleaded guilty to the fact that on February 27 he threatened a family intending to buy a house in Tampa to burn down the building, simply because the buyers were Muslim, the press service said Department of Justice.
According to court documents, on November 3, a Muslim whose name was not named was 2016, and his wife came to the house they intended to purchase to finalize the purchase agreement. At the moment when they, together with the owner of the building and the realtor, were in the yard, Howard ran up to them and shouted: "This sale will not take place!" The man threatened to burn the house and told the potential buyer: “You are not welcome here!”.
A Muslim couple left the yard and canceled the purchase of a house. In the following days, Howard recited the incident to his neighbors, adding offensive remarks about Muslims to the story.
Investigators noted that hatred on the basis of religion is simply unacceptable in the United States, and the man must be punished by the poet.
