New York lawmakers to consider resolution on 'Immortal Regiment' action

The resolution has already been submitted in the State Senate, received the J4960 number and has been sent to the Finance Committee for consideration.

Next week, the New York State Legislative Assembly will consider a resolution on the “Immortal Regiment” action, which will be held in the city of the same name on May 5. This was announced on Wednesday TASS New York State Legislature Staff member Anton Konev.

The document is entitled "In commemoration of the 4th annual march of the Immortal Regiment in New York, organized by the Russian Youth of America on May 5, 2018 in memory of the heroism and sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians during the Second World War."

“The resolution has already been submitted to the Senate of the state legislature, received the number J4960 and was sent for consideration to the finance committee,” Konev noted. “It will be introduced in the state Assembly next week and is expected to be voted on on Tuesday.”

The draft resolution prepared by Senator Luis Sepulveda notes that the Immortal Regiment rally is “an important international event held on the eve of Victory in Europe Day, in which participants march in a column holding portraits of their relatives who fought during the war.” World War II against Nazi Germany and its satellites."

This year, “Immortal Regiment” events will be held from May 5 to May 10 in 28 US cities, including Boston (Massachusetts), Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), San Diego (California), Houston (Texas) . The largest event will take place in New York, where an airplane with a 30-meter St. George ribbon will fly along the route of the column.
