Cases of dengue fever increase in Florida: local authorities ask for caution
Florida has issued another alert for dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease. There is an increase in infection. To date, at least 10 people across the state have been infected. New York Post.
The state health department has now placed Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, on a health alert.
The second county after Miami-Dade is under a virus alert. According to the latest report Department of Surveillance, two cases of local infection with dengue were found this year in Broward County.

In total, officials are aware of 10 cases of the virus that were locally transmitted in Florida.
The mosquito-borne virus is also known as "fracture fever" because of the muscle and joint pain associated with it.
Americans traditionally contract dengue while traveling overseas to places where it is widespread, making new cases of local spread unusual. In total, almost 200 cases of dengue have been reported in Florida among people who have traveled abroad.

Dengue is spread by mosquito bites and poses a great danger to pregnant women, infants, the elderly, people with underlying conditions, and people who have had it before.
Symptoms
After a mosquito bite, the virus penetrates into the cells of the lymph nodes and blood vessels, where its intensive replication begins. As the volume of pathogenic particles increases, they spread throughout the body and penetrate into the internal organs, partially blocking their functioning. There is an intoxication syndrome, the first sign of which is a feverish state.

Other symptoms of dengue fever include:
- headache;
- copious secretions from the respiratory tract;
- aches in muscles and joints;
- vomiting and nausea, other signs of a digestive system disorder;
- diarrhea;
- drop in blood pressure.
Dengue symptoms usually last four to seven days.
