In Florida, police arrested a man for eating shellfish: he faces a long prison sentence.
On November 17, police arrested a man for catching and eating two king clams in Key West, reports Yahoo.

Clam fritters and other popular clam dishes can be found on menus in South Florida. But the king clams sold in the state are typically harvested in the Bahamas, not caught here—or at least shouldn't be.
King clams are a protected species in Florida. It is considered "threatened" under the Endangered Species Act. Collecting them can be classified as a third-degree felony in the state. That's what a Key West resident found out late last week.

Burleigh David Smith, 67, was arrested Nov. 17 by state Fish and Wildlife officers. They claim the man caught and ate two king clams on Wisteria Island, an undeveloped island off Key West frequented by the homeless.
As of Nov. 21, Smith remained in the Monroe County Jail on $21 bail on charges of collecting king clam shells and resisting arrest without violence.
Three Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers went to the island to respond to reports of a man catching and eating king clams.

A witness told them that Smith caught the shellfish, cooked and ate them at his camp.
Officers arrived at his camp and found two empty king clam shells next to a pot and fire.
Officers spoke with Smith, who they said was "uncooperative." When officers told Smith they wanted to detain him, “he became aggressive and was arrested,” police said.
