In Florida, an unknown person opened fire at the bank: five people were killed
The Highlands County Sheriff's Office stated that the special forces detachment had to storm the SunTrust bank building in Sebring, Florida, where an unknown person took hostages and opened fire. The attack killed five people. The shooter surrendered and was arrested.

“After assessing the situation, we are saddened to learn that at least five people were recklessly killed as a result of his actions at this bank,” Police Chief Karl Hoglund told reporters at a news conference, as quoted by NBC News.
The suspect called the authorities around 12: 30 and said he had opened fire inside the bank. Later, the Sebring police posted on Facebook a statement warning residents of the "ongoing incident with law enforcement."
“Employees and family members of those who were at the SunTrust branch during today's incident should go to the Inn on the Lakes,” the message also said.
According to police, the negotiations did not produce results, so it was decided to storm the building. In the end, the shooter surrendered to the authorities.
A spokeswoman for SunTrust said the bank was working with law enforcement.
“We are working closely with officials and are committed to taking care of everyone affected,” the statement said.
Sebring is located in central Florida, about two hours south of Orlando.
