UK will strengthen the support of the Ukrainian army

Britain will increase the scale of assistance to the armed forces of Ukraine and provide additional non-lethal weapons and will prepare an additional number of Ukrainian military. This was stated by Secretary of Defense of the United Kingdom Michael Fallon.

In August, in addition to 650 Ukrainian soldiers, who were trained by British experts, 250 Ukrainians will also be trained, Fallon said at a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels. They will be taught service in the infantry, as well as taught to survive in extreme situations and provide first aid.

"Strengthening a successful training program will allow the necessary training to be received by a larger number of Ukrainian soldiers, which will help them to resist Russian aggression," said the head of the British Defense Ministry.

In addition, Fallon said that a NATO trust fund, sponsored, among other things, by the UK, would provide Ukraine with 200 secure communication devices worth 3 million pounds (4,7 million US dollars). The fund will also fund a program to ensure regional airspace security, to enable Ukraine to share air traffic information with its neighbors.

During the military conflict in the Donbass, Kiev received military assistance from some European countries that are part of NATO. Until now, supplies have been limited to non-lethal weapons.

Many European countries oppose arms exports to Ukraine. Among them are Germany, France, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Hungary and Poland. Meanwhile, the White House took a wait-and-see attitude on the issue of arms supplies.
