Oppositionist Nemtsov shot dead in downtown Moscow
The well-known oppositionist and Putin critic Boris Nemtsov was shot from a white car in the center of the Russian capital, on the Bolshoi Zamoskvoretsky Bridge.
Nemtsov died on the spot from his injuries, the car disappeared. According to RIA Newswith a politician there was a 23-year-old girl. Four shots in the back of Nemtsov were fired from the car. The car disappeared, the oppositionist died from his wounds.
A comrade-in-arms and fellow party member of Nemtsov, Ilya Yashin, confirmed this information. “I am now right in front of me, unfortunately, I see Boris’s corpse. Big Zamoskvoretsky bridge. I see the body and there is a lot of police around, ”said Yashin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has already confirmed the death of Nemtsov, the head of the Moscow police Anatoly Yakunin left for the scene, reports«Interfax». In Moscow, the “Interception” plan has been introduced, and measures are being taken to search for the alleged killers.
Nemtsov was one of the founders and leaders of the Solidarity social movement, the co-chairman of the RPR-PARNAS political party, and a member of the Coordination Council of the Russian opposition.
He began his political career as governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region in 1991. After two terms, Nemtsov went to work at the Government of Russia. He was the Minister of Fuel and Energy, 1997 became the first deputy chairman of the government, was a member of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
After retirement in 1999 — 2003, he was a deputy of the State Duma, where he held the posts of deputy chairman of the State Duma and head of the SPS faction.
In the regional elections 8 of September 2013, he was elected a deputy of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma at the head of the list of the RPR-Parnas party.
